About Valhalla

Dwight Gahm founded Valhalla and hired Jack Nicklaus to design it; it opened in 1986. The PGA of America bought into the club in the 1990s and owned it outright for years before selling it to a local member group, Valhalla Golf Partners, in June 2022.

The PGA Championship has been played here four times: Mark Brooks (1996), Tiger Woods (2000), Rory McIlroy (2014) and Xander Schauffele (2024). The U.S. won the 2008 Ryder Cup at Valhalla, and the 2028 Solheim Cup is scheduled here.

What stands out

  • No. 13, "Limestone," is a short par 4 with an island green set on limestone boulders.
  • The par-5 18th has a "lion's mouth" bunker splitting the green.
