About No. 4

No. 4 first opened in 1919 and has been reworked more than any other Pinehurst course: Robert Trent Jones in 1973, Rees Jones in the 1980s, a complete Tom Fazio rebuild in 1999, and finally Gil Hanse's full redesign, which reopened in September 2018.

It was the stroke-play partner of No. 2 for the 2008 and 2019 U.S. Amateurs, and in 2019 the first 18 holes of the final match were played here.

What stands out

  • Sandy waste areas and native plantings in the Sandhills style.
  • Rolling ground with long views across the property.
  • Plays from the main resort clubhouse with No. 1 and No. 2.
