The Old Course at St Andrews is the home of golf. Golf has been played on these links since the 1400s, the course set the 18-hole standard in 1764, and it has hosted 30 Open Championships, more than anywhere else. The Perry Bros play it on October 27, 2026, day 8 of our Scotland trip.

Nobody designed the Old Course. It evolved on common land over centuries, and in 1764 the Society of St Andrews Golfers combined holes to bring it from 22 to 18, which became the standard for the game. Old Tom Morris later built the 1st and 18th greens and shaped much of what golfers see today.
It has hosted the Open 30 times, most recently in 2022, when Cameron Smith won at 20 under, and the Open returns in 2027. Tiger Woods won here in 2000 and 2005.
The Old Course is the last round of our Scotland trip.
